Session Details

Relaxed, outdoor sessions for home educated children, designed with neurodivergent children at heart. Based at The Dome at Badgers Food Forest in Gulval, children can explore, create, play and enjoy the land. The Dome offers a cosy space to retreat, get absorbed in a book or craft, or simply take a break, with plenty of room for side quests and doing their own thing. When: Thursdays, term time Time: 12.30–2.30pm Where: Badgers Food Forest, Gulval, TR20 8XE Age: Primarily 6–12. Older children are welcome if the session feels right for them. Group size: Maximum 10 children Cost: £3–£9 subsidised sliding scale Parent/carer: Under 8s stay with a parent/carer. Over 8s can be dropped off. WHAT HAPPENS? Lyndsay is your learning facilitator, bringing warmth and gentle curiosity while following the children’s interests. Each session offers invitations to explore, which might include nature crafts, clay play, open-air cooking, gardening or silent discos. There’s a mud kitchen, natural resources, books, crafts and games, with space to explore the land or follow a side quest. Children might make, build, investigate, play, get muddy, create, watch, chat or simply be. There’s no pressure to join in. Children can dip in and out, take breaks or do their own thing. No diagnosis is needed. PARENTS, CARERS & SIBLINGS For children under 8, stay and join in, follow their lead, or enjoy a cuppa nearby while they explore. Children aged 8+ can be dropped off if that feels right for them, or you’re welcome to stay. Non-participating siblings are welcome too. WHAT TO BRING Expect to get messy! Come dressed for the weather and outdoor play, with outdoor footwear, waterproofs, a snack and water. WEATHER & FACILITIES Sessions run in wet weather, with the Dome offering a cosy space for shelter. We’ll only cancel in the event of a severe weather warning and will contact booked families. There is parking on site, followed by a short walk across grass to the Dome, and a compostable toilet. The site has natural grass terrain and two ponds.
