Dance and Expressive Movement

Session Details

Our Dance & Expressive Movement sessions offer a gentle, supportive space for children to explore movement in their own way and at their own pace. Rather than focusing on steps, technique or performance, the sessions centre on rhythm, expression, regulation and relationship. Children are supported to move freely through sensory-aware, child-led exploration, with space for stillness just as much as movement. With small group sizes and a relaxed, responsive facilitator, each child has room to arrive as they are, take their time, and find their own way of being in their body. For children aged 6–14. All ages are welcome if you feel your child would benefit from the session. Children under 8 must have a parent or carer on site throughout. Children over 8 may be dropped off. No previous dance experience is needed and there is no expectation to participate in a particular way. Children are welcome to watch, take breaks, move in and out of activities, or explore the space in whatever way feels comfortable for them. To keep our Dance & Expressive Movement sessions accessible to all families, we offer a pay-what-you-can scale per child. Please choose the option that feels right for your circumstances: **Supported rate – £3** For families who need a little extra support right now. Please choose this option if it helps make attending possible. **Community rate – £6** The standard contribution that helps cover the basic running costs of the session. **Pay it forward rate – £9** For those who are able to contribute a little more, helping us keep spaces accessible for other families in the community. Sessions take place at The Old Cattle Market in Helston. Paid parking onsite as well as a nearby cafe and park. Children can wear whatever they feel comfortable moving in. There’s no special clothing or dance kit needed. We recommend bringing a drink and anything your child usually finds helpful for feeling comfortable.
