We have some really wonderful news to share, and we wanted to take a moment to mark it properly.
NILU has been awarded National Lottery funding through Sport England's Active Horizons project. We are genuinely, deeply grateful.
What this means -
This grant will allow us to offer a 40-week programme of swimming and dance for home-educated neurodivergent children here in West Cornwall. Small groups. A relaxed pace. Spaces that are sensory-aware and child-led. Where children are free to move, to rest, to explore, and to simply arrive as they are. No performance
expectations. No pressure to keep up. Just safe, inclusive, embodied experience in the company of a responsive and caring facilitator.
Why it matters -
Access to movement and wellbeing provision for neurodivergent children can be incredibly hard to find. Many families tell us that mainstream activities simply don't work for their children, the noise, the structure, the social demands. What we're building is something different. Something that starts with the child, not the curriculum.
Swimming and dance, at their heart, are
about relationship, with your body, with water, with rhythm, with others. We believe every child deserves access to that experience, regardless of how their nervous system is wired.
Thank you -
To the National Lottery and Sport England, for seeing the value in this work, and for making it possible.
To our families, our community, and everyone who has supported NILU along the way, this is for you, and because of you.
Sessions are open to book here
